Our Mission
To prepare Black girls to write their own narrative and shape their future. We help our members become global citizens of character and purpose; ready to face life’s challenges and key moments with AUTHENTICITY, AUDACITY, and ADAPTABILITY.
Our Vision
To create a new narrative and shape a future where Black women drive transformative change, fostering a legacy of power and progress.
““Having a group that’s safe for young Black girls, and we can talk about things other classes don’t talk about.””
“I was most surprised by the personal growth. I’ve never felt so confident and inspired in such a short period of time!”

Our HERStory
As a first-generation college student, our foundHER, Yanna Williams knew all too well the need for support and guidance. That’s why she created Dear Diary, Inc.- a mentoring organization for high school Black girls to be themselves out loud in a brave, safe space that fosters sisterhood. Since its inception, Yanna has dedicated her life to empowering Black girls and women to operate in their truth without conforming to societal expectations. Thanks to a fully funded grant from the City of Madison, Commonwealth Development, and Madison Police Department, Dear Diary, Inc. began programming in 2019 and has worked with over 500 girls to create lasting relationships. From Google Drive idea to revolutionary organization, Dear Diary, Inc. continues to lead the charge and change lives for Black girls. Join the movement and become a part of this transformative sisterhood today.
